IF YOUR BOSS SAYS THIS... DON'T ANSWER TOO FAST.

If your manager pulls you to the side and says, people have been complaining about you, don't immediately start defending yourself. I know what you gonna wanna say. What they say, what I do? But no slow down, ask..Can you tell me specifically what the concern is? Because people have been complaining about you is extremely vague. What people? What they complaining about? When did this happen? Was there a specific incident? And most importantly, is there something you're being expected to correct? You need enough information to actually understand what you're being accused of before you could even defend yourself. And please don't start guessing for them. Well, maybe it's because I said this... No! Or I know Sarah was mad at me last week. Stop. Stop right there. Cause now you're introducing information that didn't even ask for. Listen, first, ask questions and respond to what's actually being brought to you. And if you don't have enough information to give an accurate answer at that moment, you can simply say, I'd like some time to think about what you just shared before I respond. You don't have to panic because somebody pulled you into the office. And after that conversation, document. Document the date, who was there, what concerns were brought to you, what you were told and what you said. Because six weeks from now, you don't wanna be trying to remember a conversation by memory.
