Dot Coffee Shop is one of those places that feels like a piece of Houston history. 🍳🥞 Dot opened on the Gulf Freeway in 1967 and was the first restaurant opened by the Pappas family, marking the beginning of what would eventually become the restaurant group behind Pappadeaux, Pappasito’s, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse and more. Nearly 60 years later, Dot still has its old-school diner feel and continues serving Houston 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I went all-in on the classics: crispy fried cheese, pecan pancakes loaded with granola, sugared pecans, caramel and whipped cream, the Houston Omelette, and my personal favorite, the chicken-fried steak smothered in cream gravy.
