Why it worked

The video leverages the high-engagement, viral appeal of a celebrity performance to drive traffic to a streaming platform, using the performance as a hook for the product.

Summary

Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter perform a song together on stage at the VMAs. The caption encourages viewers to use Spotify to watch more iconic VMA moments.

Structure

1Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter perform on stage
2The artists sing and dance together
3The caption directs viewers to Spotify for more content

Product placement

Spotify: (a) ACTS — the caption directs the viewer to the app to watch VMA moments. Removing this would change the video's purpose as a promotional clip for the platform. Paramount+: (b) APPEARS — mentioned in the creator bio as the place to rewatch the VMAs. Removing this would not change the video content itself.
