What people see: “The DVRO was granted.” What they don’t see is everything it took to get here. It takes time to build substantial evidence. To go back through things you’ve tried to move forward from and turn them into dates, screenshots, videos, reports and timelines. It takes HOURS to fill out the forms. To learn a system you never wanted to understand. You file. You wait. Sometimes it comes back. You fix it, file again, and wait again. All while still being a mom. Making dinner. Changing diapers. Doing school drop-offs. Trying to keep life normal for your babies while carrying something incredibly heavy in the background. Today, he was served. The judge granted me temporary protection through a DVRO. I also requested protection for my children. That was not granted temporarily, so their protection will be addressed at our hearing. I’m relieved. I’m emotional about my babies. And I am exhausted. Because “just get a restraining order” is never JUST getting a restraining order. It’s reliving it. Documenting it. Learning the system. Keeping the receipts. And somehow still waking up the next morning and being somebody’s mom. If you’re somewhere in that process right now - I see you. I know this kind of tired. 🤎 #coparenting #coparentingafterabuse #familycourt #dvro #court
