I’m tired, you guys 🥺 I’m a mom trying to raise my kids, protect my peace, and figure out how to coparent in a situation that still leaves me feeling like I have to constantly protect myself. The first thing he says this morning is, “This is not the exchange spot”. He wants me isolated and away from protection so he can say and do whatever he feels like. I choose to exchange our son INSIDE the police station (when their lobby hours are available) because I feel safer there. There are witnesses. There are officers. I can hand over our baby and walk away. Our no-contact order specifically allows us to record exchanges for protection. I normally keep recording until I see his car go in the opposite direction. But today, HE FOLLOWED ME. As I’m walking to my car he yells, “You get your content?” I wish he understood that I don’t WANT content like this. I want boring exchanges. I want to hand over our son, say goodbye, get in my car and go home. I don’t want to live hypervigilant. I don’t want to constantly wonder what’s coming next or whether I’m doing enough to protect myself. And more than anything, as the mom, I keep coming back to: how is any of this in the best interest of our son? I genuinely don’t know what the next right step is anymore. So #californiafamilylaw /DV attorneys — please meet me in the comments or my DMs. I want to understand when behavior like this, with an existing no-contact order, becomes something I should bring back before the court. And if you’re watching this and have a California family law attorney you trust, please tag them below. I need some legal eyes on this one ⚖️🧾 #dvro #coparentingafterabuse #postseparationabuse #familycourt @LeahLaLa
