It's not you. It's not your body. It's the clothing, how they're made and the fact that sizing is inconsistent. If you're new here, my name is Jillian and this is my new series called Sizing is Inconsistent AF. If you missed the Hollister episode where I tried on all low rise jeans, now I'm at American Eagle and I'm going to try on all high rise and prove to you that sizing is inconsistent and it's not your body that's the problem. We're not off to a strong start. This is a size 16, super high rise, dreamy drape. Also, there's no there's no stretch. I can barely breathe in these. Absolutely not, and I'm so sad because these are actually so cute. Let me show you. Like if these fit properly, they would be adorable. Do you see the patchwork? I'm so sad. And then you have these, which are super high rise, flare jeans. These actually fit me. Believe it or not, they're a little loose in the thigh. Let me flip the camera so you can see. Literally, it's so hard for me to look at myself in high rise jeans now because I've realized how accentuating they are when you have an apron belly. No. Low rise all the way forever and ever. Amen. These fit. They actually kind of fit like a glove, except this part here that I'm kind of feeling like is a little baggy. But we just went from one pair of jeans that I couldn't breathe in, that's a size 16, to another pair of jeans that fits me perfectly fine. These are the exact same jeans I just had on, but in dark wash instead of light wash. Ew. No. It's giving me toe. The booty looks kind of good though. However, this is also a problem for me up here. They're not nearly as stretchy as the last pair was. So, next time someone tries to tell you that your body is the problem and it's not the clothes, show them this video, please and thank you. There's another pair of super high rise jeans. These are the baggy, dreamy drape. What the? What? I literally can't breathe. Let me flip the camera so you can see. What is this? Like, I'm so sad. Sorry, they're not the dreamy drape, they're literally just the American Eagle super high rise baggy wide leg jeans. So, I'm not sure how this is possible, but I'm actually pretty sure the dark wash is somehow tighter than the black wash. These are the exact same jeans I just had on, but in a dark blue wash instead of black. Did you hear that? It literally sounds like the button's going to pop off. Nope. It's not you. It's not your body. It's the clothes. I'm going to say that again and again and again and again until you get it through your head. These are the American Eagle stovepipe jeans. I've actually never tried their stovepipe line before. These actually don't fit terribly. Also a size 16, these are rigid. So there's really not any stretch to them, but I can breathe in them and they're surprisingly flattering on the belly. Let me flip the camera so you can see. I don't actually hate these as much as I thought I was going to. They're definitely a little snug here, but for being rigid, barrel jeans, not too bad. Same exact pair of jeans I just had on, the American Eagle stovepipe jeans. Black wash. I literally cannot even button them. Can't even button them. So this is literal proof of inconsistent sizing and how fucked the sizing charts are in the fashion industry. And obviously, yes, the dyeing process and the cutting process changes things a little bit when it comes to jeans, but like then how come men's jeans all fit the same? Why can't women's clothing just be sized the way that men's is? Just for funsies, I grabbed a pair of the low rise ex-boyfriend jeans to bring in the fitting room with me so that I can prove to you how much more flattering low rise is on even bellies. Low rise jeans are the best cut of jeans for the apron belly body type. If you have a belly and you have never put on a pair of low rise jeans, please, I'm begging you, go try on a pair of low rise jeans. You can see the difference just from this video alone, what high rise look like on my apron belly versus what low rise looks like on my apron belly. Let me flip the camera so you can really see. Hello? Are you kidding? These are also still a size 16, and they are so much more flattering on me than any of the high rise jeans I just put on. So, if that doesn't convince you to go try low rise jeans, I don't know what will. It's really disappointing, honestly, because American Eagle used to be one of my all-time favorite stores for jeans. I literally own like 30 pairs of jeans from over the years, all the different sizes that I've been, that are all from American Eagle. The problem is that over the years, they seem to have gotten more and more inconsistent in their sizing, especially in their denim, and I don't understand why. That's it for this episode of Sizing is Inconsistent AF. Throw it in the comments where you guys want me to go next, and if you're not already following me, I'm not really sure what you're doing.
