The plan was a six-day reveal, with the full design saved for a big unveiling at South Bank on Monday. Then on Friday night, the emblems leaked when the official Brisbane 2032 YouTube channel accidentally published a video preview early. Today, the organisers leaned into it and dropped the official reveal two days ahead of schedule. Their caption said it all: “Consider this your official reveal 😉” So what are we looking at? A cockatoo, with a crest that doubles as the Olympic and Paralympic flame. The design is shaped like Queensland, with its eye firmly on Brisbane. Organisers say it’s inspired by our reef, beaches and hinterland, and by everything in between. Their pitch: distinctive, unmistakably Queensland and “a little bit cheeky.” Not everyone’s sold, though. One Reddit user was so disappointed the bin chicken missed out that they made their own version of the emblem, ibis and all. 🗑️🐦 (For the record, that’s a fan creation, not an official Brisbane 2032 logo.) The rollout itself is worth a look. Over the past week, Ian Thorpe, Anna Meares, Alexa Leary and more uncovered one piece a day at landmarks from Cairns to Townsville, Rockhampton and the Sunshine Coast. That turned a logo launch into a statewide treasure hunt. Then came Friday night’s leak, and instead of waiting for Monday, they owned it with a wink. There’s a lesson here for anyone in marketing or comms. Plans break. How you respond is what people remember. 2,120 days to go until the Opening Ceremony on 23 July 2032. Brisbane, this one’s ours. 💗
