I swapped my CD player and books on CD for a Toniebox a few years ago, and this is the biggest reason I love it: I can record myself reading the books I want to use! I record my voice in the Tonies app and add it to a Creative-Tonie. The recordings stay saved in my app, so I can reuse them year after year instead of searching for a CD version of a particular book. Go Away, Big Green Monster! is one of my favorites for this. Students can follow along in the book or use our matching puppet, adding the monster’s facial features and taking them away as they listen. It gives students an independent way to revisit a familiar story while practicing listening, sequencing, and connecting the words they hear to the story’s events.
