Tariq Nasheed’s animated caricature clip is clearly meant to mock African and Black British culture from the dashiki to the African imagery and the references to Brixton 🤣. I can’t even take this seriously 😂 I’m not offended. We’re all Black people from different parts of the diaspora, and I find it strange when we turn our own cultural differences into something to ridicule. The irony is that some of the same cultural things being mocked are appreciated and worn by people within the same wider community. At some point, we need to ask ourselves: what’s actually being achieved by constantly mocking each other? Africans, Black Americans, Caribbeans and Black British people have plenty of legitimate things to debate and disagree about. But turning our different histories and cultures into tribalistic insults isn’t going to benefit anyone. So I’m going to laugh at it, make my point and keep it moving. 😂🦁 We can disagree without disrespecting each other’s heritage. #africandiaspora #BlackTikTok #fba #comedy #Africantiktok
