Massive news for Chase cardholders. Chase just announced a refresh of the Chase Sapphire Preferred. These are some huge changes, let's get into them. First and foremost, the annual fee is staying the same. The Chase Sapphire Preferred is maintaining its $95 annual fee. First the good, Chase is adding two new multiplier categories. You now get 3x on gas and 3x on EV charging, and you also get 3x on vacation rentals like Airbnb and Verbo. These are great changes, especially the gas and EV charging multiplier. That's going to be great for the majority of Americans who can now get a multiplier for their fuel spend. Chase is also adding a TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit. So now you get complimentary Global Entry and TSA PreCheck with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. That's going to elevate your travel experience. That's awesome, great benefit. Next, the bad. Effective in October, Chase is eliminating the 10% bonus points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Previously, if you spent $25,000 on the card, you would get 2,500 bonus points on the anniversary. That is going away. It is basically effective immediately for any new applicants for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, and for current cardholders that will go away in October. That is unfortunate, that was a great benefit, that was a great way to get some additional points for your spend. So it is unfortunate that they are doing away with that. Now, the ugly. For Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders, Chase is reducing the transfer ratio from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt. It used to be a 1-to-1 transfer, now it is one Chase points equals .75 Hyatt points. So if you transfer 1,000 Chase points, you get 750 Hyatt points. This is unique to the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Ink Business card. If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you are maintaining the 1-to-1 transfer ratio with Hyatt. This is a crippling decrease. This sucks, especially in light of the fact that Hyatt just increased their award category, which means they decrease the value of their own points, and now Chase decreased the transfer ratio to Hyatt. So this definitely stings, especially since a lot of people use Chase points for their Hyatt stays. So that one really hurts, definitely sucks, definitely another reason to consider getting the Chase Sapphire Reserve, especially since the Chase Sapphire Reserve has a 150,000 point welcome offer right now. So if you are a Hyatt person, definitely worth considering getting the Chase Sapphire Reserve before that welcome offer goes away next Monday. Again, big changes, some of them good, some of them bad, some of them awful. Drop any questions in the comments, drop your thoughts in the comments. Are you going to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred?
