Are heart attacks now being deemed officially medically unnecessary by insurance companies? And why do I say that? Because a 37-year-old woman went into the hospital with a heart attack. A couple of days later, once she was out of the hospital, she received a letter from her insurance company. And take a listen to what they wrote to her. Listen. I'm 37. I just had a heart attack two weeks ago and I have a nice little letter to share with you that I got in the mail from my insurance Cigna. Yeah, Cigna. They said after carefully reviewing the information, we determine the service is not medically necessary. What? So they don't think that saving my life was medically necessary. Wow. And just for reference, my total bill for I was in the hospital for two days, the ER plus the cath lab and then you know all the stuff in between, my total bill so far is currently at $110,000. Wow. Is how much it cost to save my life and I'm sure there's more bills coming still. So what is the purpose of having insurance? In her case, it was Cigna. And as you just heard, she's 37 years old. Between labs and the two-day hospital stay for treatment of a heart attack, over $110,000 she was billed because they deemed it medically unnecessary. And keep in mind, federal law states otherwise. Under the ACA Act, in that act, it states that emergency services are to be covered by insurance companies. That just goes to show you that her claim should have never been denied and she should never have received that letter. We seriously need healthcare reform in this country because most of these health insurance companies are completely out of control. Let me know your thoughts on this in the comments and as always, I'd love to hear from you.
