Y’all, if you want to be the HERO of your next holiday party, office party, or family gathering, show up with a platter of HANKY PANKIES! 😂 First of all, the NAME alone is a conversation starter! And then you have these delicious little brown bites of cheesy, savory goodness that might not win a beauty contest, but goodness gracious, they are DELICIOUS! Hanky Pankies are believed to have originated around Cincinnati, Ohio, sometime in the 1940s or ’50s, and became a favorite at cocktail parties, office gatherings, and holiday get-togethers in the ’60s and ‘70s. Back when everybody had a favorite little appetizer they’d whip up for company! I just love bringing these old-fashioned recipes back! And there’s something about that crispy rye bread with the cheesy sausage and beef mixture that makes them absolutely irresistible! Too easy and TOO GOOD! HANKY PANKIES RECIPE 🧀 Ingredients: * 1 lb ground beef * 1 lb breakfast sausage (hot or regular) * 1 small onion, diced * 1 tablespoon minced garlic * A splash of Worcestershire sauce * 1 tablespoon Knorr beef bouillon (optional) * 1 teaspoon or less red pepper flakes (optional) * About 1 teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste * 16 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed * Rye bread, cut into quarters Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Brown the ground beef, breakfast sausage, and diced onion together in a skillet. Drain the grease. 3. Add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, beef bouillon, red pepper flakes, and seasoned salt. Stir everything together. 4. Add the Velveeta and stir over low heat until completely melted and everything is combined. 5. Meanwhile, cut your rye bread into quarters and toast in the oven until lightly crispy. 6. Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the cheesy meat mixture onto each little piece of toasted rye bread. 7. Return to the 350°F oven for about 15 minutes. 8. Serve warm and ENJOY! And there you have it! Little bites of old-fashioned deliciousness! Now tell me, WHO remembers Hanky Pankies? And more importantly, what did YOUR family call them? Because I have a feeling these little things went by a few different names! 😂❤️ Y’all try this! #recipes #holidays #party #holidayrecipes #appetizer @knorr
