The hardest part of globus is not the sensation. It’s trying to describe it in a ten-minute appointment. Lead with the pattern, not the feeling. When it started, how often, what you’re doing when it’s worst, and whether it eases while you eat. That last one matters. Easier while swallowing food is a recognised feature of globus, and it’s the kind of detail a doctor can work with. Then name what it isn’t. No pain on swallowing, no food getting stuck, no unexplained weight loss. And ask it directly: could reflux be reaching my throat? Throat symptoms often get looked at in isolation, so raise the connection yourself. 🌿 Write your notes before you go 🌿 Take the dates, not just the sensation 🌿 Ask what happens next if this round comes back clear Throat tissue can be irritated without looking dramatic on examination. A clean scope is reassuring, but it doesn’t mean you imagined it.
