You have big news for shoppers that you are revealing right here this morning. Tell us about it. We are really excited to announce that today we are combining our two membership programs, Walmart Plus and Sam's Club Plus, and by joining one, you'll now get the other. Starting this morning, for $120 a year, customers will get Walmart Plus benefits like free delivery and streaming, and access to wholesale chain Sam's Club, a bundle that's cheaper than competitors like Amazon's $139 a year Prime. Families are struggling right now. They are paying $1,300 more a month on the same goods and services as they were five years ago. Will Walmart be lowering prices? We've been lowering prices throughout the year. At the end of the first quarter, we had over 7,000 rollbacks, which is up about 2,000 from the year before. And at the end of the second quarter, we peaked at about 11,000 rollbacks. So we've been really focused on value. And yet for so many people, John, they are stretched. Even with those rollbacks, can prices go lower? Can you continue to cut in a world where your costs are going up? Well, we'll always be focused on doing everything we can to keep prices as low as we can in any environment as long as we can. One of the benefits that we're also excited about with the new membership program is at the gas pump. You can save 10 cents per gallon at over 17,000 stations now. You came in as CEO early this year. Prices were under $3 a gallon back then. Today, it's almost $4.30 nationwide. How worried are you about gas prices and the impact you're seeing on your customer? We've been in a market for the last several quarters with what we've been describing as a pretty resilient customer environment. And then in the end of the first quarter, we saw some stress on some customers and we definitely saw some of their spending change. Have you talked at all to the administration about that? What's your message to this administration about where those prices are? We're always, of course, cooperating in any way we can. The way we think about the commodity markets is, while largely out of our control, what we try to do here at Walmart is ensure that we're as efficient as possible. If those costs keep going up, do your prices go up? We'll keep looking for ways that we can create efficiency. But what is important right now is we saw a way that we could save people money. A key to driving those savings, artificial intelligence. So what does the rise of AI mean for the nation's largest retailer and the future of its 1.6 million strong workforce, one that John Furner knows all about firsthand? 1993, you started as an hourly employee at Walmart in the Garden Center. Today, you're the person running the biggest private employer in the country. If AI delivers everything you're hoping it will, will you have more or fewer employees five years from now? We're people-led, and so we think AI and other core technologies, these are tools that help make our associates better. This is a large business with a lot of associates here who have a lot of opportunity. I think that will be true in five years as well. People first, that's important. As for that new Walmart Plus and Sam's Club bundle, the good news here for consumers this morning is that generally this kind of competition, it turns out to really benefit shoppers because other retailers take notice, they try and do more to attract attention, and that is exactly the kind of thing you want to see, guys, heading into the holiday season.
