This is what a corn plaster does to a corn. Take a look at this, a corn is a cone of hard dead skin pressed inward by a shoe until its tip presses on the nerves beneath. That is why every step hurts. In the center of the plaster sits a small pad of salicylic acid. This is how it works, the acid loosens the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together, the soft ring around it takes the pressure off. Now watch the surface closely, over several days the hard yellow skin turns white and soft, then the core lifts out and as the skin heals the pain gradually fades away.
