We have a problem with attributions in B2B SaaS marketing right now. If we look at attribution software, it's measuring what we can track somebody clicks a link and that is attributable through the software. Unfortunately though, if we think about the way that we buy as individuals in our own lives, we go and listen to a podcast, we see something on social media and we later then remember that company or somebody tells us about it word of mouth. We go and Google the name of that company and then that's gonna show up in the attribution software as an organic search, right? Here's a better way to measure this. So first, we use the attribution software even though it's imperfect. But then we also couple that with self-reported attribution where people are filling out how did you hear about us field on a form. And thirdly, we ask salespeople to ask inbound leads how they heard us. We combine these three data points and we can get a much better picture of where our leads are coming from. And the reason we're doing this is not so that we can have perfect attribution, but so we can understand which of our programs and marketing are working and not working and not overweight, measurable and underweight the programs that are not measurable, which may actually be generating more pipeline for us than other channels.
