I'm gonna be totally honest about my business and background that way you can decide if you think I'm a fraud or I'm legit and you can stay or you can go own a business. I run a business that's called Humn Capital to real state development business we focus on hotels we have 3 projects underway we are a general partner on 2 of them on one we are the lead general partner came up with the idea started the project on another we are a minority general partner and brought 2 groups together who are the majority partners on the 3rd we have no general partnership ownership we have been hired as a project manager creative director concept lead we really got hired to replicate the first concept on one of our investors properties we have a team of 4 including myself my sister and we have 2 employees overseas one in the Philippines and one in the UK like any other real estate development company we have to have an operating business to sustain or cash flow in between fee revenue cycles from our projects unlike most real estate development companies that do project management property management brokerage we are creating service businesses over the Internet and what we've decided to do is sub brand them so even though these services are owned by Humn Capital they are services of Humn Capital and potentially just be offered as such we have branded them Dealpage which is virtual pitch decks and Aircalc which is short term rental data and underwriting the plan for this is for the operating businesses to produce cash flow not only to fund the team myself the business as we develop hotels but eventually to help us fund pre development and pursuit costs of the hotels that we create that way we can be self sustaining take risks and create the hotels that we want to create my background I went to Tulane University I started studying architecture I left after 2 weeks did not want to do architecture I went home I worked for a year I had many jobs and one of the things that I did was handy Manning I was pretty good at carpentry I'd built a tiny house in my backyard I did all that work to save up for a bike trip I bicycled from Chicago to LA with a friend of mine this changed my life showed me I could do anything if I set my mind to it I went back to Tulane I started studying creative writing in English I started a charity that bicycled and raised money for homeless people we did Savannah to New Orleans that was my first real venture I started the LaCrosse team on campus I was president of my fraternity along the way I had a number of jobs as well I worked as a beignet fried cook my freshman year my sophomore year I did handy Manning and I worked in the theater department building sets I like construction I didn't know what path I was gonna take I thought it would be a carpenter and a writer until in the end of my sophomore year I got a job with a real estate development company that changed my life because I loved it and I realized it combined a lot of the things that I like creativity finance and harkening back to my childhood with my family when we go on vacation we would literally just drive around looking at houses that was part of the reason why I almost started an architecture so at that point going into my junior year I really switched I had a internship at Marriott that summer I was in the sales and marketing department I did as much as I could to get FaceTime and get in front of the people handling the real estate for that company it also introduced me to hotels which we'll get to later my junior year I got a job at a real estate development company it was just the 4 partners in me I worked part time it was like 20 to 3 hours a week I was literally just filing receipts and driving around town hanging up signs but as it went I got more and more into the actual business and I got more and more opportunity summer after my junior year I got an internship at JP Morgan in the Private Bank of New Orleans this is where they managed people's wealth and my first week on the job one of the clients that we were talking to mentioned that he had a real estate project he was considering investing in I stayed over the weekend worked put together a deal memorandum for the client explaining the deal as I saw it showed it to my boss they told me to present it on the call I did and I basically spent the rest of the summer doing that working back and forth with this client on this one big deal of his while I was doing that it became very clear I was not gonna stay in private banking I knew that before I got the job I tried to get a job with JP Morgan in commercial real estate I was working on that I was interviewing elsewhere and I got an offer with Blackrock not in real estate but in their institutional clients business advising banks like Wells Fargo and UBS on their capital allocation and the investment of their proprietary assets also the assets of their private banks I took that job because it's a great brand name my senior year I kept working for the real estate development company now full time I Lead the redevelopment of a mixed use project into an airbnb and co working that was my big project for the year and I got more involved on the acquisitions and project management side I graduated school traveled in my truck for 3 months started working for Blackrock in New York City didn't end up going to New York City kept working for my truck from Boulder Colorado eventually got a house and had my 6 month Mark working for Blackrock quit I wanted to go out on my own I had an idea for a hospitality concept which led to one of the 3 projects I'm doing now that was February 2020 one since then I have been doing whatever it takes to get this business going a lot of getting this business going has been doing consulting work anyone who's in real estate knows and as I mentioned in the beginning real estate development revenues are not very stable especially when you're early on over time I hope to refine down to just our operating businesses are service offerings like Dealpage and Aircalc and hotels but as of right now we are still a little varied on the consulting side doing what we need to do to keep the business going and continuing to push forward on our hotels I hope you stay along for the journey
