So today I finally found a logo direction that I'm starting to be happy with for my Utah project the Petty Cash Cafe and Bar. This is the restaurant inside of the hotel. Renovation project I've been working on since November. The hotel is called the Petty Ranch Inn. I'll explain that brand later. But the idea with the Petty Cash Cafe and Bar was to honor one of the previous owners of the hotel. A guy named Carol Ray Cash McCall. I found out about Cash when I was initially doing research on the project overall. I found an obituary for Cash. Said not only was he the prior owner of the Pioneer Lodge, which was the hotel before, but that he was also an actor. He was in James Bond's Octopussy as well as the Roy Rogers Show. What was interesting is I couldn't find credits on him, but I found multiple instances mentioning that he was in those shows. That led me to think that he was a stuntman or just an extra. When I was crafting the story for this brand, I had this idea of him as somebody who maybe was frustrated by this, sort of this out of work actor. That started to color the brand initially. When I went deeper, I found out that was not true at all. Cash is an incredibly interesting person. He was really involved in the community. He was a great business owner, very highly revered and he did a lot for the town. But because he had these Hollywood roots, I wanted to tie the brand to that era of Western cinema, in particular to this Technicolor movie title screen aesthetic. That's what I was able to land on today. Get a little bit more into how I did that in another video. The biggest thing that it was was actually the image treatment of the background image. Getting that right and going through a bunch of iterations to find what exactly that treatment was, then made it a lot easier to land on the logo.
