What is the 1,000 minute method

What is the 1,000 minute method? So I think it makes sense maybe to take you back for 30 seconds to just give you some quick context. I'm in sales, I'm an entrepreneur, which really means that I don't have a salary, I don't get paid hourly, there's no benefits, there's no nothing. You wake up every day, you eat what you kill, or you don't. And so when I was young, you know, 22, living in New York City with no job, but I had rent to pay, bills to pay, I had, you know, electricity and food and all that, I just figured out how do I manage my day? How do I figure things out, whether I'm trying to sell real estate or insurance or you know, trying to act at the time. And I saw everybody else had scheduled calendars based on their appointments and a lot of what was set by like middle management or their bosses. Okay, so everybody has the same amount of time in a day. I just need to be the one who's the most productive with the time that I have. And I also need to make sure that I don't throw days or weeks or months away if I have a bad hour or a bad call. Right, so I would do that a lot. You know, you have like a bad call with somebody, you get bad news, like, that ruined my day. Oh, she totally ruined my week, which is unfair to the rest of the week and the rest of the day. So I looked at it and said, alright, I've got 1,440 minutes a day. 440 of those minutes roughly, I'll sleep, I'll hang out, I'll eat, I'll do what I need to do. And then as a single guy living in New York at the time, I've got about 1,000 minutes a day to be productive. Now some people have 200 minutes a day, some people have more than 1,000 minutes, it really depends. But mine was about 1,000 and I looked at it as a gift everyday. I'm the CEO of my own bank of time and everyday I wake up with a fresh thousand dollars in my account that I get to be productive with. And it protects me against time vampires. It protects me against wasting time for all those like, hey, let's set up a meeting. No problem. Now it's a two hour lunch. Like that's not a great investment of those dollars, right? That could have been an email, that could have been a phone call, that could have been a text message. And so it really helped me start to think about how I use my time wisely as an entrepreneur who does not have a salary or an hourly wage. That's really where it all started.
