these founders turned a Valentine's Day nightmare into a business that brings in $20 million every year. Welcome back to my series Founder Files where I talk about founders and their stories. In 2015 Seema Bansal's boyfriend and now husband and co-founder sent her a Valentine's Day bouquet but it showed up late, wilted and looked nothing like the pictures. So they started researching how they could change this experience so that the flowers last longer. They connected with a farm in Ecuador who had actually been researching the preservation of roses and then flew there to convince them to give exclusive access to their supply chain and that's how Eternity Roses was born. Venus et Fleur is also the OG success story to influencer marketing. They gifted the Kardashians some flowers and Khloe and Kourtney actually posted theirs, raking in over half a million likes and overnight put them on the map. But also because they didn't expect it they ran out of inventory to sell. They made sure to move quickly and actually built out their supply chain which helped keep up with demand that came next. In 2018 they doubled down on their luxury reputation and partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to become their official floral vendor. And then during the pandemic when luxury gifting fell, flower demand actually went way up. Today they've outcompeted other floral companies and companies trying to dupe them because of two main reasons. They've done a really great job building out the luxury feel, look and experience and honed in on their reputation for being the go-to for high end floral gifting. They're also constantly launching new colors, flowers and even products. Most recently they've added a revenue channel to include retail presents in major cities. The craziest part is that they did all of this without a single cent of outside funding. So to this day they maintain full ownership and control of their company. Comment who I should do next.
