£100k at 24? re-introducing myself retire by 40? chinese adoptee? frugal chic? hey, i'm Mia A London-based girly in her mid 20s who is building financial freedom while not sacrificing style. I recently quit my 9-5 in fashion to become my own boss, but it didn't start there... i was adopted from China by my British parents, grew up in South East London. And no, I don't want to find my real parents - I already have them :) fashion icon since day 1 i became obsessed with the idea of financial freedom. I didn't grow up financially literate, I learnt it myself. After falling down a rabbit hole on YouTube and reading several books on the topic, I made it my mission to become 'rich'. Rich not in possessions, but in time, choice and autonomy. Although, being fresh out of sixth form, I didn't know what I wanted to do or how to get there. Worked in fashion Studied Fashion Management at Nottingham Trent. Did 3 internships + worked at a showroom for 2 years I started posting content about finance on TikTok, as an outlet to talk about it... June 2024 October 2025 Unpacking The "Frugal Chic" Aesthetic BY RANYECHI UDEMEZE 15 September 2025 after working for 2+ years juggling a 9-5, modelling and content creation, I quit my job. My life now looks like this. i didn't happen overnight you often see people glamourising quitting their 9-5. Very few have been here since the start. Waking up at 5am to film, editing on the tube, posting during lunch and coming home to work again. It took over a year of consistency, failing publicly and being judged. You can't want someone's output without knowing their input. It doesn't stop there I'm determined to build financial freedom before I hit my 30s. This means having enough invested that I can choose to not work. It's going to be a challenge... But with sheer determination I believe I can do it.
