Hook
As a fifth year electrical engineering student, I'm very disappointed in this video because I relate to it. I come at it from the perspective of I never took calc in high school, I never took physics in high school, I never took chemistry in high school. None of that. I was an average student. I went into college taking pre-calc one and pre-calc two. Yes, my community college split it into two parts. The idea that you can't become an engineer because you're not an amazing student is so dumb to me. I've seen so many people switch out of engineering because they got a C on a physics one exam. What are we doing? Like, engineers are normal people, too. They get C's in a lot of their classes. And you don't know how many times I've been discouraged by getting a bad grade in a class. You can't let it get into your head. That's it. I failed calc two because I got COVID and bronchitis. It wrecked my sophomore year of college, but I didn't let it get to me. I retook it, got an A, and I continued forward, you know? And it's so, so disappointing when I see people that are engineering majors think that they can't be engineers because they failed a math class. It's not that big of a deal. Retake it and move on. That's the way I view it.
