I think one of the biggest lies that people will tell you is that engineers make six figures coming straight out of college. A couple days ago I posted a paycheck breakdown as a 24-year-old engineer and a guy commented what? That's all as an engineer. And I didn't take offense to it because the guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about. But it's more so so understanding the unrealistic expectations of engineer, especially a 24-year-old engineer. Keep in mind, I make above six figures now, but when I started off right after college, I made 83,000 dollars. Engineers are not coming out of college making 200,000 or even a hundred thousand dollars. That is rare. The average entry level engineering job in the US pays between 60,000 and 80,000 dollars. Only the top 10% of engineers will make six figures coming straight out of college. I more so wanted to clear the air to people who are engineers and want to be engineers about the unrealistic expectations that come with this field. So yeah, just stick with it and it'll pay off in the long run.
