The year has finally come! Today I got my yearly bonus. Hi, I'm Nick. I'm a 24-year-old engineer working in Atlanta, Georgia. I like to be as transparent as possible when it comes to my personal finance journey. Alright, so this paycheck, my gross pay was $18,612. And of that amount, $13,262 were from my bonus. Like I said, that is gross pay, so after taxes and contributions, my total paycheck was $11,517. It's honestly crazy how much the government takes away in taxes, but I'm still blessed either way. So the first thing that I did was move $800 to my rent savings. This pays half of my rent for the month. Then I paid off my credit card spending over the last two weeks and that was $564. Next, I went ahead and maxed out my Roth IRA and that was $3,700. Moving on to some other debt, I paid $1,033 towards my student loans. Then I paid another $1,000 towards my car loan. I like to prepay for car insurance, so I went ahead and moved $800 to my car insurance savings. I'm about to pay for a class this summer, so I went ahead and moved $1,000 to my school savings. Next, I wanted to bolster up my emergency fund a little bit. Honestly, it's kinda low, so I moved $1,590 to that. And for the last $1,000, I'm going to use for personal spending, completely guilt-free. So with this, whatever trips I want to go on for the year, whatever clothes I want to buy, if I want to donate it, if I want to buy gifts, this $1,000 will be for that. Like I said at the beginning of the video, I'm extremely blessed. I just want to inspire all future engineers out there. If I can do it, you can too. Follow for more finance tips.
