Here's how you can trace over any image in Procreate. First of all, I just tap on the wrench tool and I'm going to hit insert a photo. Then I'm just going to select the photo that I want to trace. Now the photo is just going to automatically import. Then I just hit the selection tool and I'm just going to resize it to how I want it. For this one, I just crop it to the size of my canvas. Now, I just go to my layers panel and I tap on the layer and I just turn my opacity down a little bit. Then I just add a new layer above. I'm just going to select my deep sketching brush and then I can get to drawing. Now, for the actual tracing pro So when I'm tracing, I am just looking for the most important line. So for the main outline, I will use a little bit of a thicker line and just go around the whole outside of the drawing. Then once I'm all done with the outside of the drawing, I will start working on the inside. And again, I'm just taking the most important lines that I see that I need to paint. So I'll start painting all of the ridges and then I'll start adding where these shadows and highlights are. When I'm drawing my shadows and highlights, I like to use a thinner, softer line. And that's just so I know those aren't like main lines. but they are where there are color shifts or just value shifts in general from light to dark. When I'm all done with that, I will turn off the reference photo and make sure I have all the lines I need. Then I'll go back in and add any that I missed. Let me know what you want to learn next.
