Gen Z is about to completely redefine what are status symbols. For a long time status was obvious. It was luxury bags, designer logos, everything people could see. But Gen Z on the other hand this stuff is cringe. Because if everyone has it, it's not a status symbol. The status symbols for Gen Z are completely different. The most important Gen Z status symbol is exclusivity. They want things that are hard to get, even if the price point is $50 to $100. That's why brands like Parke and Set Active have symbols for Gen Z because they constantly sell out. But these brands over time won't be status symbols if more people can get them. Kinda like how Labubus started as a status symbol but no longer are. The 2nd status symbol for Gen Z is being offline, or at least appearing like you're offline. It's starting to become cringe how much people are on their phones and online. So Gen Z thinks it's cool to be offline. And if they're posting online it's through like a private Finsta account. The 3rd Gen Z status symbol is personalization. It's no longer about having the newest phone or headphones, it's more about how you accessorize and make things yours. The more you personalize and accessorize things, they feel rare and one of a kind. So Gen Z wants the ability to personalize everything that they can. Now what do you think about how Gen Z is shifting status symbols?
