I took my family to Disney and now I'd like to report a financial crime. It's no secret that Disney is expensive, so here is exactly what our family of four spent. Start with getting in the door, quite literally the price of admission. Disney runs a Florida resident special at the beginning of the year. It's typically around $65 per person per day. For four days for four people, that is $1,040. We do split the tickets up into two trips because you don't have to use them consecutively. The only catch with these tickets is that you only have a three-month window to use the tickets. It's our second trip of the year, so for this trip it was $520 worth of tickets. If you didn't know, Disney invented a new way to charge you twice for the same ride and somehow we're okay with it. Because we quite literally just cannot stand in lines, we opt for a Lightning Lane, which is $285. If you haven't dealt with Disney's Lightning Lane process lately, just know that you do need an engineering degree to figure it out. But I did write code for my own MySpace profile back in the day, so I was able to figure it out. We spent $643 on food. Now before you ask, we didn't eat anywhere fancy. We typically split meals, we maximize the use of our popcorn bucket, and I'm pretty sure about 50% of this actually went to Blue Powerades and ice cream because y'all, it was hot. We spent $150 a night for a hotel. For three nights, that was a total of $450. We always stay on property because we like to take advantage of early entry and we love to use Disney transportation to get around. Even a family trip, if you don't hold over a shopping visit at the gift shop over your kids' heads the entire time to ensure the best attitudes. Pro tip, give the same offer to your husband. It ensures everyone is on their best behavior. This trip cost me $120 to keep everyone's attitude in check. This brings our grand total for one Disney trip to $2,018.
