Was anyone else a little confused when they saw this brand, L'idee, at Australian Fashion Week last week? Because I, I was, I was a little confused. For reference, I didn't know much about the brand before last week. Um, I saw this and it caught my eye because, I'll be honest, I love a little pleated polyester. It's, I love it. It's very, it speaks to me. And so this drew my eye, so then I started looking at their stuff. And you can see it better on this picture, right? At first I noticed the hem on the neckline and I was like, oh, that looks rough, um, from a construction point. And then I was like, oh, maybe they just didn't iron and press it properly. But then I'm like, that, this dress is priced at $1,000 Australian dollars. So for $1,000 Australian dollars, I'm expecting more, you know? And then I thought, okay, well maybe they didn't press it, but then I'm looking at the waistband and see how it doesn't sit flat? It's, it's sort of crumpling. And I was like, no, no, that's an easy fix. Because like I said, I do love a little pleated polyester. And for reference, if you're wondering why am I spending money on polyester, it's because if you like this, this aesthetic, um, it has to be polyester because pleats just don't hold on something like silk. Um, they would basically just disappear and become flat if it came in contact with water. Um, so that's just the explanation. But see how this one, right? And this is just from French Connection. This is from Aritzia, this is from French Connection. But see how well the waist just sits? And the only reason is because they put a more sturdier material on the back and so that it's able to lay flat. That's all they had to do. And also notice how like nicely the seams of the two materials sits. It's like camouflaged into the pleat, because look at this. Like the way that that meets. And again, that same issue with the collar of it not sitting flat. I don't know. These two together, it's like in excess of $700 Australian dollars. And I just feel like this is giving Shein, dare I say it? I don't know. Like it's not, for that price point, that's not acceptable. Because then look, there's this brand, it's Eliya the Label. I mean, look at the construction on that. That's really nicely done. And I think that there's a mix of design and construction because with this dress, like that little peplum waist looks like it's uneven, the way it's sitting. And then again, you could argue, oh well that's just the nature of the material. But in my mind, as if I was designing that, I'd go, okay, well you know what, that just doesn't work. It's too wonky. Let's go back to the drawing board, come up with another solution. Am I wrong? Please let me know if I'm, if you're seeing what I'm seeing. Please.
