Challenging myself to a random budget. 20 bucks. Without using groceries, though this is still a pretty tough budget for New York City. I was picking up a pretty unconventional breakfast, but I knew it would make me happy and I knew it was cheap. Once I confirmed there weren't people watching me, I knew I could eat this dog in the rain. It was actually more expensive than I thought it would be, but it tasted great. I was able to haggle them down to $4 for this, which was okay, but I did accidentally get it all over my nicest sweatshirt I own and that made me pretty sad. I got most of the stains out just in time for lunch and I headed over to Chinatown. I was picking up one of the best dumplings I've heard of and I needed to see if they actually taste good. I tried to eat these in the park nearby and I was getting pestered by a bunch of birds. Even with the distraction, I could tell that these were worth every single penny and I was standing guard, making sure that these guys weren't gonna steal any of my food I paid for. I have a feeling I might be coming back here a lot in the coming weeks because all 13 of these fried dumplings cost me just $5. That left me with $11 for dinner, which was good cause I was trying to find something substantial. I just saw a TikTok about this place called Smashy which is supposedly from Budapest that has pretty cheap burgers and fries. I don't know if Budapest is known for their burgers, but I can say that this one was pretty dang good. And the best part is, if tax didn't exist then these came in under budget.
