Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
a really critical time of late. It's I want to get the phone number of that air traffic controller because I'm sideways. I'm still way back with that guy. Right? He's not with his airplane right now. He's way back and he's upset about what happened earlier. And and was this a major issue? I I've been vector through the localizer final tons and tons of times. Sometimes they tell you you're going to do it, sometimes they don't. It's it's not a show stopper to to make a point uh over the radio and especially the way he did it. I think he was insulting and you know, did the controller get it wrong? He could have done it better, but wow. All right. Uh which one? Which one he says? right before he. Um yeah, give me one second. All right, so he's got to look up the phone number. He does, calls him back. I got it for you 995. We're ready? Go. All right, it's going to be All right, and then he gives him the phone number. Um I don't know how the phone call went. I uh I'm assuming that uh they had a cordial conversation Maybe the air traffic controller, the supervisor at least could have straightened this captain out on. Well, there was traffic coming out of T-zero. Now, should our guy have told you that? Yes. But again, he was busy, he was distracted, not distracted, busy with other things. Uh, and it's a it's nice if they call you and tell you that you're going to go through final. It's not a requirement that they do. Um, and even if it is a requirement, sometimes they miss it. Okay, that was his bad. But we don't need the personal insults on the radio. I thought you knew what you were doing. right? Okay, we don't we don't need that. And but it did start from the air traffic control. I know what I'm doing. Okay, all right, well hold on, you know, everybody just take a big deep breath, relax, come down a little bit, let's lower the temperature in the room. Uh because when you get into a real situation where there's you know, safety of flight at at risk or a real emergency going on, maybe an engine loss or something like that. You want to check your ego at the door. All right, this is really this was a lot of unforced air errors on the part of air traffic control in on the part of the pilot. And then I'm just flabber gased by the the FO's really poor lack of discipline on the radios and not even be able to read back a simple hold short instruction and get it right with the call sign all in one uh fell swoop. He just had four tries to get it and finally on the fourth try um got it right now. There's a thing going on in Washington DC. I was just up there this past week and uh I was talking with some people that are are in on what's going on with the revap and the air traffic control system. And the reason I bring that up is because it would help with situations like this. This was an arrival cluster of airplanes that got kind of close to each other with a departure coming out of T-DRO. The new system that they're working on and they're bidding it out right now. So they're looking for uh contracts to compete against each other to rebuild the air traffic control system, but they're calling it the smart system. I don't know what smart stands for, but smart, you know, it sounds good. That's a good name, right. Uh it's a work in progress. But the smart system is designed to do a number of things. And here's kind of the goals of the redo of the system.
