I always see people say that this is the order of accounts that you should contribute your money to, but they don't add any nuance to it. I'm gonna add it for you because I think that this order of accounts is highly your priorities. And that's exactly what makes financial personal personal. Early retirement, house purchase, wedding, kids, vacation, gap years. The single biggest example of this is someone that wants to retire early. If you look at all of these accounts, most of them have a restriction that you can't actually take out money after age 59.5. Money you want to use before age 59.5 shouldn't all be locked away in retirement accounts. Yes, taxes now, if you're contributing pre-tax, but locked after 59.5, much isn't doing you much good for any other goal. To optimize things purely from a math perspective, then think about how I'm gonna optimize things for the life that I actually wanna live. So I think it's critical to sit down and actually think about what are your priorities? And that determines the order of accounts you contribute to.
