you know honestly i've never really heard as much obsession as high yield savings accounts and i've worked in the financial industry for ten years until i started posting content and consuming finance content on social media i think it's insanity the amount of focus that people have on high yield savings accounts yes i think they're important yes i think that that is a great first step in your financial journey and learning about finance and trying to take ownership over your money and actually make a move but i think the mistake people make is too many people sit on too much cash in their high yield savings account for too long or they're focusing on the wrong things they're focusing about trying to pick the most perfect high yield savings account or trying to chase banks for yields and i i think that's the problem right a high yield savings account is literally just meant to hold cash and it's meant to just be a better place to hold cash than a checking account for your emergency fund and any short term savings goals that's literally all it should be you should be obsessing over learning things that is actually gonna build wealth like investing in the stock market enhancing your skills to be able to earn more at your actual job starting a side hustle things that are actually going to be lucrative for your future because $10,000 sitting in a high yield savings account yielding 4% a year is literally only $33 a month
