Roles
you'll find on site
Trades +
labourers
Tradies are your licensed
specialists:
sparky
plumber
chippy
concreter
Labour are the general hands
keeping the site moving.
Between them, they're doing
most of the physical work on
site.
Plant operators
They run the heavy gear:
excavators
bulldozers
forklifts
cranes
Licensed for each machine. If
dirt's moving or something
heavy's being lifted by a
machine, it's them.
Doggers +
riggers
Doggers attach the load and
direct the crane.
Riggers do that plus erect and
dismantle temporary
structures.
Both need their own ticket.
They're the reason crane lifts
don't go wrong.
Scaffolder
Scaffolders build the temporary
platforms so tradies can work at
height safely.
Licensed role with different
levels.
Supervisor /
leading hand
The boss on the ground.
Coordinates trades, manages
the schedule, keeps safety
tight, and bridges the gap
between the project manager
and everyone on site.
In Queensland they'll usually
hold a supervisor certificate or
builder's licence.
