This is day one of trying to catch and cook fish. New York. Today I'm targeting the summer flounder. My game plan is take long casts out, let it sink all the way to the bottom, and then bounce my lure slowly as it drifts in the current. I'm using these small soft plastics which flounder can't resist. And it didn't take long for me to get a bite. I was hooked up into my first fish of the day. The fish was fighting pretty decent, so hopefully it's a keeper. He's small. But when I pulled it to the surface, I was disappointed to see it was way too small to keep. I tossed him back to be caught another day. But before I got back to fishing, I noticed it had spit up this tiny baitfish. So I switched over to this lure that looked more like it and on my very next cast, got another bite. Hopefully this time it's a keeper so I can complete day one of the challenge. And when I pulled the fish in, I was shocked to see what it was.
