As a recruiter, I get a lot of connection requests on LinkedIn. People often ask me if you should include a message with your connection request or not. I personal take on this is that in a C of LinkedIn requests. If you have a message, it immediately stands out to me. Not only that, but your title is a big thing because it typically just shows your title, how many mutual connections we have in sometimes your location and if you send a message. So take that with a grain of salt whether you want to send a connection request with a message or not.
