I've been in Dubai for about four weeks now and I've received four offers. So here's some advice I'd give you if you're also looking for a job in Dubai or anywhere else. The first thing is something I say in pretty much every video, it's your network. Like networking is so key, but building a good network doesn't happen overnight, unfortunately. But it can, like you can meet someone tomorrow and then they get you a job the next day. That actually did happen with my first offer. But for example, here's what happened with my second offer. About three months ago, I was looking for a job while I was still in London, thinking I was, you know, still going to be there, and I had reached out to someone who worked at a company that I thought I wanted to work with, and he gave me a lot of tips and helped me with getting my interview. However, I then later on realized, you know, I wanted to move to Dubai. So I told him I was moving to Dubai and he said, oh great, well when you're out there, I'll, you know, connect you with some people I know in Dubai that are in the same field that you're going into. And here we are a month later, he's introduced me to someone who knew someone else who was hiring, had an interview with them at some event, like on the spot, and now I have a job offer, which I'm probably going to take because it's like exactly what I've been looking for. So just because something might not be serving you right then and there, doesn't mean that that person or whatever it is might not help in the future. And that's how networks are built, right? It started with one person and now it's turned into three people that are all killing it in the sector that I'm trying to work in and I have connections with all of them. Another piece of advice is make sure that you are showing up on LinkedIn Recruiter, okay? Sales people have LinkedIn Sales Navigator and recruiters have LinkedIn Recruiter. If you are looking for a job, you want to make sure that when a recruiter puts in the filters for people that they want to try and book a meeting with, you come up straight away. So you want to be shown as being open to work. This is not the same as having that little open to work banner on your profile display picture. It's very different. Obviously, recruiters, one of their main kind of metrics is how many meetings booked. And so if they can just go on LinkedIn Recruiter, put in the filters and reach out to you and get a booked meeting kind of easily, that's great for them and it's great for you, right? This is the easiest way to get in front of the company. There's a way you do it in your settings, I guess let me know if you don't know how to do it. Additionally, if a recruiter reaches out to you, respond to them quickly, you know, click the link or whatever because I think there's a way that recruiters know if someone is actively responding to recruiters on LinkedIn. I don't know how, but they do. And so once I was responding to recruiters quickly and having chats with them, they just kept flooding in to my inbox. So yeah, just be active on there. And the last thing that is going to help with everything is your LinkedIn profile. You actually do need to be active. You need to make sure that your LinkedIn is clear. You need to make sure that you're highlighting your strengths, that you're showing your value as a professional. You need to make sure that your about section is good. Make sure that your experience is clear, especially if you're in sales, make sure that the description shows your sales performance metrics, for example, what you did in the role, and make sure you're posting as well, right? Find someone that maybe is in the same position that you want to be in and see what they're posting and you can use that as inspiration, you know? The more active that you are on LinkedIn, the more your profile's going to pop up on other people's feeds and then, you know, you can get reached out to, right? Like one of the other offers that I got, the person I was interviewing with said, you know, they saw my content and kind of gave them more of an incentive to go with me. A company might not explicitly ask for your LinkedIn, but they're going to try and find it. Those are three things that you can work on or three pieces of advice for trying to land a job, whether it's out here or in London or wherever you are.
