What do you feed your child makes just as much difference as what you teach your child. Here are three things that we are doing that slightly feels controversial as parents, especially when we get some pushback. However, we have seen massive difference. First, is that we have a zero sugar policy in our house. So in terms of snacks, we typically give her nuts, fruits, seeds, a healthy portion of natural fats and anti-inflammatories and micronutrients, mainly to aid with brain development. 80% of the brain development happens in the first five years. And brain development reflects things like how they walk, how they learn to read, how they learn to speak. And I think it goes hand in hand. Second, which is that breakfast is non-negotiable. No matter where we live or where we travel, she always has oats in the morning, full of chia seeds, kefir, berries in it, bananas. There's so much that we can talk about, we can do a whole other video about her breakfast. But for us, that's non-negotiable and we have seen a massive difference. Third, and this is no juice in our house. There's no squash, no variations of juice, nothing. Water is only water. Adults, we don't drink juice in the house. I only drink water. And so she's only seeing us model what we want as parents. And if you want these kind of rules, one, making it very clear to people around you that your child has isn't allowed certain things. And two, bring your own snacks or bring your own food, her sugar intake and the food that we give her, that doesn't lead to massive energy spikes. And good sleep is also important as well. Those are just three things that we do in order to control and nurture our child's development.
