We tested over 30 pairs of Brooks shoes, and it's official. These are the best ones. If you want a walking shoe, it's the Brooks Ghost Max. Every time. If you're looking for a running shoe with a lot of cushion, go for the Brooks Glycerin. And if you just need arch support, that's the Brooks Adrenaline GTS. Let's break it down. The Ghost Max won our 2026 Wellness Awards. Plus, they're my walking shoe of choice and I test a lot of shoes. They're cushioned and comfortable straight out the box, and they come in a lot of different sizes and widths. I'm wearing them right now. The Glycerins are a bit lighter than the Ghost Max, and they have a little bit more heel drop, and they just feel a little snappier and a little more durable for running. If you're doing any sort of long run or recovery run, these are the ones to get, but they're definitely not like a fast speed shoe. Now for arch support. Basically every doctor, podiatrist, expert we've spoken to recommends the Brooks Adrenaline GTS. GTS stands for Go to Support, and it includes Brooks' guide rails support, which is basically the brand's stability tech that helps keep your foot aligned and not wobbly while you're running. And look, if you don't know what shoe you want and you're new to this whole running shoe thing, just go for the Brooks Ghost. It's our go-to recommendation and it's also one of our benchmark shoes we use to compare other shoes, like is the shoe I'm testing better than the Brooks Ghost. If you have questions about any of these shoes or any other Brooks shoes that didn't make the cut, let us know in the comments and we'll get back to you.
