These are my hands before a walk. Here's my hands after my walk. Why your hands swell on walks. This actually happens to me too. If you've ever noticed that your fingers get puffy during a walk, here's what's actually going on. Believe it or not, this is actually very common. When you're walking, your arms stay hanging at your sides. Gravity lets more fluid collect in your hands. At the same time, your blood vessels are getting dilated and widened up during exercise, which can make your fingers look even puffier. For most healthy people, this is completely normal. Usually goes away within minutes after you stop walking. If it's only happening in one hand, if it's painful, your hand becomes red or hot, or you have symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pain, that's a different story and you need to see a physician. If the swelling is something that bothers you when you're walking, you can try make fists and open your hands while you're walking. You can also keep your hands above your heart level or even above your head for a short period while you walk. Also make sure you take off all your rings before the walk, and stay hydrated.
