Two dermatologists. Five hair loss treatments. Here’s how we rated them. Topical minoxidil: 9/10 + 10/10
One of our most evidence-backed treatments for common forms of hair loss and FDA-approved for androgenetic alopecia. ⚠️ toxic to pets Rosemary oil: 2/10
It gets a lot of attention online, but the evidence is still limited. At best, it works as well as 2% minoxidil. Oral minoxidil: 9/10 + 10/10
Increasingly used off-label for hair loss and can be a great option for the right patient. Needs to be done under physician supervision. Red light therapy: 8/10
Promising evidence and can be a useful non-drug option or addition to treatment. Multiple studies show it can increase hair density in androgenetic alopecia. Biotin: 0/10
Unless you’re actually deficient (which is rare), taking extra biotin has not been shown to improve hair growth. 👉Most importantly, “hair loss” is not one diagnosis. The best treatment depends on WHY you’re losing hair in the first place. Save this before spending money on another hair growth product, and follow for more evidence-based hair and skin advice. @Dr. Whitney Bowe #HairLoss #HairGrowth #Dermatologist #Minoxidil #HairLossTreatment
