Things I did when I was $169k in debt that give me the ick now after paying off $73k of high interest debt in 15 months. I did all these things. What are some of your icks? •Keeping using credit cards while in debt for the rewards points. •Opening store credit cards with 28%++ interest rates to save 10% on a single purchase. •Using buy now pay later programs. •Using bonuses or extra money as “fun money” and not taking care of financial business like paying down debts, saving, or investing. •Thinking I could out earn bad spending habits. Believing if I earned more, I would be able to fix my finances bc I had more money to work with. •Using shopping as a way to combat boredom. Whether that’s scrolling and shopping or going shopping for entertainment. •Not budgeting tracking my spending and letting my money come in and out willy nilly. 👉The financial tools I built & use daily are in my profile 🔗) •Only paying the minimum on debts 👈 This is what keeps you in debt. Even if it’s only $5 put extra money toward a single debt at a time to pay down the principal. •Saying yes to experiences I couldn’t afford for fear of missing out or being too embarrassed to say it wasn’t in my budget •Forgetting to return items that didn’t work or don’t fit and never getting my money back. •Missing payments bc I was over extended •Buying home decor or redecorating while in debt •Not automating savings/investing bc if that money came into my bank account I was spending it. •Not knowing how much debt I was in the interest rates and how much it would cost me because I was scared of how big it was and i wouldn’t be able to do anything about it so I just avoided the problem. #debt #Budgeting #PersonalFinance #financialliteracy
