5 more things I stopped doing to payoff $73k of high interest debt in 15 months. 1. Following people who made me want to buy things. I actually created all new social channels (aka this one) to see the type of content that inspired me on my new finance, budgeting and debt payoff journey. The content you consume influences you! 2. Freestyling meal time. Taking 10-15 minutes a week to plan meals will save you so much money & frustration. Raise your hand if you’ve gone out to eat simply because you didn’t have a plan for the day and it was easier to get takeout or delivery?! 🙋♀️ 3. Piggybacking off of ⬆️ going to the grocery store without a game plan. After you’ve meal planned (breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks) Shop your fridge & pantry based on what you’re making for the week. Make a list. Only buy what’s on the list. In fact, I think it saves more money using a shopping or delivery service for this. Less temptation to drop things in the cart. 🛒 4. Making excuses for why I needed something. The biggest battle in tackling your finances is with yourself and undoing bad habits and creating new ones. I would rationalize purchases all the time. I was on a health journey and. Ended new workout clothes to get motivated. You have gym clothes. Save this for a reward when you hit a milestone. 💬Feel free to share examples of how you have done this in this past. 5. Spending extra cash/gifts/bonuses/holiday money. Believe it or not I have had a job with a large bonus for 6 years and only last year put ALL of it toward my debt. In previous years, I might pay off 1 debt, save some, then spend the rest on things I wanted or wanted to do but couldn’t afford bc I was $169k in debt and denial 😱🤣 #debt #debtpayoff #payingoffdebt #financialliteracy #PersonalFinance @Ben’s Original
