I just paid extra for one of Italy's nicest train seats. Let's go and see if it's actually worth it. I booked Italo's Club Executive from Rome to Naples and it cost just 23 euros more than a regular ticket. The experience starts with access to the Italo Lounge at Roma Termini. This air conditioned room here in the train station where you can have sparkling wine or prosecco. You can have a few different types of snacks and sit and wait for your time. About 8 minutes before departure, my platform was announced and it was time to board. Club is half of carriage 1 and the other half is Business Class. The benefits of booking Club Executive are supposed to include Italo Lounge, pastries, sandwiches, sparkling wine and coffee served by dedicated staff. But this time, just like most of the times I've used Club Executive, there was no sparkling wine or pastries or sandwiches and our dedicated staff business class seats. So honestly, I'd save your money and book Business instead. And if you're looking for a true luxury train experience in Italy, I would still choose Trenitalia Executive every single time.
