Running and cycling are endurance sports. Swimming is an endurance sport. So why doesn't your fitness transfer? 👉 Because endurance is not just about your heart and lungs. It's about where your body has built it. 🔴 When you run and cycle, almost all of your endurance lives in your legs. Your legs have the biggest muscles in your body. They're strong, efficient, and trained to go for hours. But swimming is completely different. 👉 Swimming is an arm dominant sport. Your lats, chest, and shoulders do almost all the work. And those muscles have never been trained to go the distance. ❌ So your heart is fine ❌ Your lungs are fine 🔴 Your legs, the biggest muscles in your body, are still consuming a huge amount of energy in the water. Even if they're not helping you go faster. 👉 The only solution is to build swim specific endurance in your upper body. And there are no shortcuts here. It takes a proper training plan that builds it gradually over a few months. ✅ Two to three sessions per week is more than enough. But the plan has to be precise. It has to build your endurance progressively without overworking you and without disrupting your running or cycling training. 🎯 Inside the Swim Success Training app, we have a plan called "improve endurance" built specifically for this. It gradually develops your swim specific fitness so you can swim longer every week, at a better pace, without burning out. And with our new feature where you can share your struggles directly, the app builds an even more precise plan around you. Your job is just to show up, do the training, and enjoy the progress.
