cozy has been the buzzword for interior design and home decor content. Cozy isn't something that you can buy. The word cozy has become so muddied with aesthetics. Upon further investigation, cozy is not an aesthetic. It's not beige. It's not a fireplace. It's not boucle fabric. Cozy is an experience. It's the feeling we get when certain senses are triggered and a feeling can be intentionally designed. Right now I want to reestablish what cozy actually means. Very simply, the definition. Cozy: [adjective] describes a space, feeling, or relationship that is comfortably warm, safe, and inviting. It often implies a snug atmosphere that encourages relaxation. I want you to focus on a couple of things. Feeling, space, atmosphere. A space is what you can see. A feeling is what you experience. And an atmosphere is what connects the two. There are hundreds of products that sure could create a cozier home maybe. But if there's no understanding as to what the goal of coziness is, what does it look like? Where does it end? What I've landed on is that we feel cozy when the five senses are triggered. Sight, smell, touch, taste, sound. Besides the easiest one when it comes to our homes, but I actually think that's the reason why we're in the catch 22. We're still missing the other four. The four senses, smell, sound, taste, touch are the invisible layer to interior design. It's the difference maker in seeing a showroom and your room. Making your home a home. In my next video we're going over the five senses and what it looks like bringing each one of those senses into your home. But more importantly, what that feeling is. Because coziness is that feeling. I'll be back super soon with the part two. Until then, much love and I'll see you next time.
