think about two identical rooms, beautifully decorated, same couch, same rug, same lighting, one smells like warm woods, coffee, fresh laundry. The other smells like stale air, last night's takeout, and damp towels. Visually, they're identical. Emotionally though, they're completely different. That is how powerful scent is. Now the question is, how do I get my home to smell how I want to feel? Not to be the bearer of bad news, but step one is cleaning. 1.) cleaning (create maintenance routines). I'm working on this myself. I'm messy by nature and I'm trying to nurture a cleaning schedule for myself to be honest. So figuring out a maintenance cleaning schedule for you to get on. That's number one. Hypochlorous acid + lampe berger. Can help get rid of all the ugly odors. Step two: Fresh Air. 2.) Fresh Air (open windows/purify air). Open your windows and air out your damn house. Also adding air purifiers. You got to get the old air out and the fresh air in. Trust me, your body will thank you for being able to breathe in fresh, clean air. I personally use the Blueair Purifiers because I think they're pretty. More importantly, they work. So open your windows, get some fresh air in there. Step three: adding scent. 3.) adding scent {personalize your house scent!}. This is where we can start having fun. For me personally, I like my home to feel warm, intimate, and earthy. A little bit maybe unique also. My goal is finding scents that support that feeling. Some of my personal favorites for this type of scent profile are the Aesop incense. Specifically, I'm going to mispronounce this so wrong. Kagrou incense. I also really love burning Palo Santo in my house. For a diffuser, I personally love the Seasons waterless diffuser. One, it's portable, which is amazing because I can just move it from room to room. No cord. Two, the fact that it's waterless, one way less maintenance because they can kind of get moldy on the inside if they have water. Also the oil is way more potent because it's not having the water diluted. Another diffuser I've been loving lately is the moon diffuser by Elorea. It's a smaller fragrance brand. And I just think it's so pretty. It's actually supposed to go like this. I love when things can double as beautiful home decor pieces. Well still being functional. I use the hazy blue oil with this. Smells wonderful. I also really love to store really unique candle. Like moment scent. It can like set the exact moment that you're wanting. Some of the ones I've enjoyed in the past are Boy Smells. Woodphoria. I've been really wanting to try the "Citrush" Boy Smells scent. I feel like that's perfect for during the day. I don't know. I've never smelled it, but I'd love to try it. You can totally stop at having a clean home, open windows, and then your favorite candle. But for me, perfecting mini atmospheres throughout my home for different times of the days or different occasions is like my little niche hobby. Finding smaller fragrance houses that you can find on Etsy. So if anyone has any recommendations for that, please leave them in the comments for me.
