I have a confession... I am an extremely messy person. and I don't think I'm ever gonna become a clean girl. what I'm realizing is that I underestimated how much my home drains me when it's in a chaotic state. every pile of clothes is another tab open in my brain. every unfinished task sticks in the back of my mind and it haunts me. and I came to the conclusion that having a cozy home is all in vain if you're too overwhelmed to enjoy being in it. I'm a homebody. I love slow mornings at lounging around in my bedroom letting jazz play turning on all my lamps and setting the perfect mood. I can spend thousands decorating my space but if yesterday's mess is sitting on every surface I'll never actually experience in the intended purpose I designed it for. my safe space. a place where I can find mental rest all my hobbies and forms of enjoyment can take place from room to room but when my space is a mess my brain doesn't allow me to fully enjoy whatever I'm doing because I still have 'cleaning' pending in the back of my mind. procrastination procrastination feels like a form of haunting. we all talk about 'protecting our peace' that's my life motto as well. but I'm realizing that sometimes I need to protect my peace from MYSELF. my brain's disposition my brain's disposition for chaos which is why I need to stop seeing cleaning as a chore and instead as self care for my nervous system for my mental because I'm learning that having a cozy having a cozy peaceful home is real 20% about furniture and 80% EVERYTHING else that makes a house a home <3
