Did you ever notice the announcers during the World Cup unsure of who they were looking at on screen? Here’s why… Why this kept happening during the World Cup? Celebrities put on screen with no graphics and awkward silence while the broadcaster tries and sometimes fails. To figure out who it is, it's because the World Cup and other large-scale international events like this broadcast through a world feed. FIFA, or whoever the host is, controls the cameras, or they have a vendor that controls the cameras for them, and every single network gets the exact same feed, minus the graphics. They can slap their own on there. They cannot control what they cut to, when they cut to it. They're watching it just as surprised by what's coming up on screen as you are, and their job is to try to commentate that does not always work. This is very common one, logistically impossible to let all of these different countries' broadcast partners bring their own cameras in, but also because it does give them a degree of control over it. For the Olympics and the Olympic broadcasting service, that means supposedly "unbiased" coverage for F1, best-in-class production of a massive, logistically difficult broadcast with so many angles so quickly, you really want people who know what they're doing. And for FIFA, Gianni Infantino on the broadcast every single time he's at the game. That's a little bit behind the scenes.
