as so many people are turning and joining Substack these days and starting to create their own blog or newsletter and considering that a new either revenue stream or new avenue for creative expression. I thought I'd make a video talking about how I grew my Substack from zero to 55,000 subscribers without having had any platform before that or sort of anything that was helping me, you know, bring in new people. I was just another person posting essays and getting two likes. So how did this not a strategy video, no more post 15 times a week advice, pls. It is more strategy video because paradoxically, the thing that helped me grow the most, I was having tunnel vision. It was completely ignoring any sort of strategy advice and noise and trending things on around me and continuously choosing to focus very intentionally on just what I wanted to create again and again. Even when I found myself sort of looking at what's going viral, what's trending, reminding myself of your business, because this is not how you build a viable creative outlet. You don't do it by imitating what's trending for other people. You do it by deciding that your top priority is going to be uncovering your own most authentic expression and bringing that to life. So it's a lot more about connecting with yourself than about understanding any sort of audience or strategy. Consistency is miraculous. What I mean by that is that for a while, posting and getting three likes, no engagement and it's very easy, oh, this is me or I'm just not good at this and give up. But perseverance is such a massive value of mine. I just really think that if you keep showing up, the outcome has no choice but to follow. And I follow this in everything in my life. So by staying consistent without caring about the metrics, without letting yourself feel discouraged, what happened with me and a lot of other creators is that there's a couple of essays, you really, really don't expect gonna blow up. Completely. I had one essay get 1 million reads, something like 60,000 likes on Substack and it was I wasn't even sure about posting. And these outliers can only happen when you're consistent. You can't expect every post to be an outlier, but every post is like a lottery ticket. And then a couple of them just end up blowing up. The ones that do blow up, become huge organic growth drivers and keep bringing you subscribers for years, because the lifespan on Substack is honestly never ending.
