So this might be a little bit of a hot take, but I personally believe that marketing is only really ever hard when you don't understand who you are. If a brand is struggling on social media, it typically comes down to two primary issues. Some brands have one of these, some brands unfortunately struggle with both. First one being that you are too focused on product, meaning that every single time you show up online, you're either talking about your product or your service, educating your consumer on your product or service and basically making your existence as social media as one big sales channel. The second path I see a lot of small businesses fall into, which is where they feel like in order to keep up with what's going on on social media, they need to follow all these trends and audios, ever viral moment is happening and try to force it to fit their brand in somewhat. Both of these things are typically what brands and businesses think they need to do in order to either gain traction, gain the attention of a consumer. But what they don't realise is it's actually watering down their brand and also forming a sense of distrust with their consumer because every time they're meeting them, maybe it's just a funny video, but it's not really tethering back to who they are as a brand and why they exist. And on the other hand, if they are doing a more Product or service focus post, it feels maybe pushy or overly salesy. If you wanna make your marketing a lot easier, you need to develop an actual brand strategy. Your brand is the consumer's reputation and perception of your business. Your brand strategy should inform your marketing. And if you're feeling overwhelmed with your marketing, it tells me that you actually don't have any sort of brand foundation to build off of. And a brand strategy isn't just about your brand values and why you started your business. It actually has way more to do about who you are and what emotional gap you are closing for your consumer that they can't get from any other brand or business within your market or industry.
